Dr. Shovan Chakraborty
Senior Consultant Psychiatrist · Founder
MBBS (Hons.), MD (Psychiatry), DNB (Psychiatry), Post-Doctoral Fellowship in OCD & Related Disorders
A board-certified psychiatrist with seven years of clinical experience across outpatient, inpatient, tele-psychiatry and neuromodulation settings. His specialist focus is obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, with further expertise in mood disorders and women’s mental health.
Background
Dr. Shovan has worked as an assistant professor of Psychiatry at the prestigious PGIMER, Chandigarh. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship in OCD and Related Disorders at NIMHANS, Bengaluru — considered to be the apex centre for mental health and neurosciences in India and across South Asia. Before that he spent five years at one of the oldest and largest mental health institutions in the country: the Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi. Together he has worked with more than 10,000 patients and clients all over India and abroad. Many of the people he has helped had complex, long-standing difficulties or had not improved adequately with previous treatments.
His approach focuses on active listening, case-conceptualisation, evidence-based psychiatric assessment, psychotherapy-informed care and personalised treatment planning across a broad range of mental-health concerns.
Beyond clinical care, Dr. Shovan is involved in teaching, supervising junior doctors, and research, with book chapters and publications in international journals.
Most importantly, he believes that good mental healthcare begins with listening without judgement, explaining things clearly, and working together to find an approach that feels right for each person.
