Questions
Everything people ask before booking
If your question is not answered here, write to us. We would rather answer it than have you guess.
How does the appointment actually happen?
Once your booking is paid for, the team contacts you on WhatsApp or by email to agree a time and send you a Google Meet link. The session takes place over Google Meet — your clinician encourages a video call but audio-only is available if you prefer.
Is an online consultation as good as meeting in person?
For most psychiatric assessments and for nearly all therapy, remote consultation works well — it is now an established part of mainstream mental health care. If your clinician judges that you need an in-person examination, investigations, or urgent local care, they will inform you directly and will try to help you find it.
Will I be given a prescription?
Where medication is clinically appropriate, your psychiatrist will issue a valid prescription following the telemedicine practice guidelines. Some medicines cannot be prescribed remotely; if that applies to you, it will be explained during the consultation.
Who will see what I share?
Only the clinician you are booked with. What you say in a session is confidential, and is disclosed outside that only in the narrow circumstances the law requires — principally an immediate risk to your life or someone else’s.
What is the difference between a consultation and an Expert Opinion?
A consultation is a full clinical appointment: assessment, diagnosis, and a treatment plan, with a prescription where appropriate. An Expert Opinion is a ₹99 written answer to one specific question — helpful when you want a qualified view before committing to an appointment. It does not include a diagnosis or a prescription.
Can I book for someone else — a parent, a partner, my child?
Yes, you can make the booking and pay for it. The appointment itself has to be with the person receiving care, and for anyone under 18 a parent or guardian needs to be present for at least part of it.
Do I have to suggest a date and time?
No. Suggesting a preferred slot is entirely optional, and it is a request rather than a confirmed appointment. If it does not suit your clinician, the team will message you on WhatsApp to find a time that works for you both.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
Message us on WhatsApp or email as early as you can and we will move your appointment to the next available slot at no extra cost for the first two rescheduling requests. Check our detailed cancellation and refund terms on the Refund Policy page.
Do you treat emergencies?
No. MindMonks is a planned outpatient service and cannot respond to crises. If there is immediate danger, contact your nearest emergency department or call Tele-MANAS on 14416.
In a crisis? MindMonks is not an emergency service. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or thinking about self-harm, please contact your nearest emergency department, or call the Tele-MANAS national helpline on 14416 (available 24×7, free, in multiple Indian languages).
